Hints to make your party even better

Use my experience to help you in preparing your party

Helpful Hints
Organising your party

The most important thing about your party is to get a contract for every aspect of your evening. If you rely on your friends son to do the sound, don’t be too surprised if the only music he knows about is drum & base. And if he does turn up, has he got lights etc. Third party insurance will be a definite no no as well. As for catering, you should consider things like food hygiene. If you poison your friends, it’s your fault. If a catering firm poisons them, it’s their fault. Again a contract is needed to cover you. For weddings, everything must be perfect & a good tip is to have a professional wedding planner. Go to your favourite search engine and put in ‘wedding planner’.

  * Make sure your party is in the same room as the bar. People (mainly men) tend to gather around the bar as opposed to the main room.

  * Don’t choose a venue that is too big for the amount of guests you expect. The best DJ in the world will have trouble getting 50 people to dance in a hall that holds 300+.

  * Most events never live up to their numerical expectations. For 16th, 18th, 21st, and engagements expect about 75% turnout. For older parties IE 30th, 40th 50th, Wedding anniversaries, expect between 75% & 95%. For Weddings expect between 95% & 100%. This is only OUR experience, hopefully your party will prove me wrong with 100%

  * For Weddings, do you want background music? Make sure the Disco has a radio microphone for the speeches etc.

*Play lists. If you must provide a play list, make it short, 12 songs or less. Enough to give the DJ an idea of your music tastes. But remember, a professional DJ is constantly monitoring the audience to see what they are responding to. It is impossible to DJ properly if the DJ cannot choose what to play next. Some DJs will not accept a play list at all. When you are looking around for a quote, note that the cheaper ones will accept a play list of any length. This is because they will be quite happy to play your songs for you, and don’t really bother if your guests are enjoying themselves. Remember your DJ is there to entertain you AND your guests
